Ashley Underwood | Ashley Underwood came to nursing as a second career and has been a registered nurse for nearly a decade. A dedicated Med-Surg nurse by background, she spent the majority of her clinical career with Ascension, with additional experience in long-term care. Throughout her nursing journey, Ashley advanced her education from an associate degree to a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and ultimately earned her Master of Science in Nursing Education. In Fall 2021, Ashley joined the Volunteer State Community College Nursing Faculty full-time as an Instructor and Simulation Lab Coordinator, where she plays a vital role in preparing the next generation of nurses through innovative, hands-on learning experiences. Ashley became a proud member of the Tennessee Nurses Association in 2023 and quickly became actively involved. She currently serves on the TNA District 3 Board of Directors and chairs the District Scholarship Committee. Her leadership and commitment to professional engagement were recognized when she was named the 2025 recipient of the TNA Outstanding Member Award. Beyond her work with TNA, Ashley contributes extensively to shared governance and committee initiatives at Volunteer State Community College and maintains strong ties to her community through service with United Way. She also serves as the faculty advisor for the VSCC Student Nurses Association, where she mentors and empowers nursing students to grow as leaders and advocates within the profession. Ashley’s passion for nursing education, professional development, and community engagement exemplifies the mission and spirit of the Tennessee Nurses Association. |
